Item Description
Tin, fiberboard and wood w/rubber tires. This toy certainly qualifies as one of the largest pull toys ever made, although primarily designed as a riding toy. At the center of bus front is a factory-made small hole where string could be attached. Toy measures 8x19x7.5" tall. On a panel beneath the right front window is text "No. 125 Made In U.S.A. By The Gong Bell Mfg. Co. East Hampton, Conn." The sides of the bus are fiberboard, fronat and back are tin litho. The right side, along w/company text, includes a 1.75" dia. "Mickey Mouse Club" logo. Disney characters are pictured at the bus windows and all sides picture different characters. The usual gang is all here w/interesting additions including Pinocchio, Jiminy Cricket, Joe Carioca and Jaq from Cinderalla. Wooden roof has minor wear. A pair of screws fit up through the bus roof to fasten a .75" thick diecut piece of wood w/brightly colored paper labels showing Mickey Mouse operating a "TV" camera. This piece is 4.75" wide by 5.75" tall and through the camera is a 4.75" piece of wood serving as a handle so that a very young child could actually sit on the bus roof and move it along w/his feet. Overall VF/Exc. and rare. From the Deak Stagemyer Collection.
