Item Description
Gorgeous color depiction of Disney characters as if on a studio set covers the lid of this 10.5x14x1.5" deep box by Standard Toykraft Products, 1939. Scattered small dots and hairlines of color off the extreme outer edge of box lid w/a very st. break in the cardboard across the squirrel's tail at the extreme upper right. Fine. Box holds stiff yellow cardboard piece which folds to a 10x10" front panel vertical format titled "Walt Disney Movie Studio." At the bottom center the cardboard forms a performance surface 7x7.5". This piece has very st. soiling and a couple of very lt. creases. Set also comes w/4.5x5.5" "Instuction And Scenario" book w/gorgeous front cover repeating box lid art. Back of book pictures Mickey Mouse in director's chair. Book cover has tiny handling creases but totally clean. Inside has four different scenarios, each w/two acts and titles are "Mickey Shames The Wolf, The Donald Duck Contest, To The Fair, Mickey And Ferdinand Stage A Bull Fight." With the set are a pair of cardboard squares although no scenario in the book exceeds two acts, these squares are labeled "Act 1" and "Act 3." There is no "Act 2." There are 11 stiff cardboard diecuts of characters and all characters are here that match all the dialogue entries in the booklet. However, the booklet mentions "The Horse, The Tortoise, Other" characters plus "Clara Cluck" is pictured on the box lid but none of those characters are among the 11 pieces here. Apparently set came w/crayons and each piece is neatly colored on each side. Mickey has a 2" piece of scotch tape on one side, apparently to repair a st. crease. Other figures are extremely Fine and include Donald Duck, Ferdinand, Pluto, Sneezy, Bashful and Grumpy as a single piece, Sleepy, Happy and Doc as a single piece, Dopey, Three Pigs as a single piece, Big Bad Wolf, Minnie Mouse, Snow White. These pieces are positioned in small green wood bases w/slot. 16 of these bases are intact and five others have split into two pieces. Set has been lightly used but not abused. Complete, at least w/all major pieces matching the booklet. Overall Fine and about the third we've seen. From the Deak Stagemyer Collection. Rare.
