Item Description
Extremely well-made doll of heavy felt w/wire inserts done in an upright seated position 6x10x18" tall. This famous Italian doll company took some liberties w/character designs so we aren't positive this doll really represents Donald, however, see #1617 pencil drawings which do depict Donald in a similar outfit. Doll holds 11" long gray lance. The shirt collar and ruffled wrist cuffs have the fabric accented by tiny holes as made. Bow at the neck has a knot which seems tight and complete although fabric strand forms just one loop while another felt fabric strand hangs below. Head is extremely detailed w/open beak which has pair of black accent felt nostrils on the top. Eyes are done in triple felt layers w/large pie cut accents. Hat is heavy felt w/copious amount of feather plumes. On the rear sides of the head are double layers of felt w/jagged outer strands to represent hair. Back has a felt cape. A beautifully crafted doll and this company produced their dolls in extremely limited quantities. Exc. condition and only example we know of.
