Item Description
11x18x1” deep countertop display box contains a complete set of the 10 different Disney character watches issued in 1948 to celebrate Mickey’s 20th birthday. Watches are Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Pinocchio, Jiminy Cricket, Bambi, Joe Carioca, Pluto, Dopey and Bongo. There are no graphics on the outside of the display box, it is just plain red with glossy finish. However on the inside of the lid is a superb scene of these characters including Mickey at center holding a birthday cake. Display box also complete with insert reading “Walt Disney Ingersoll Watches.” For display purposes the lid was to be propped open on a display counter. Lid has obvious edge wear including corner splits and a 1x1” piece missing from one side edge. Top of lid has a 2x6” moisture stain. Outside of box Good. Illustration on inside of lid has trace of aging with some color rubs but still Fine appearance. Each watch comes in matching individual box 3.5x4.5x1” deep. Each lid has same birthday scene illustration. These boxes have scattered degrees of wear from storage/display use. Pinocchio box has moisture staining on one end panel. Boxes have scattered color rubs along edges but for the most part remain bright & clean. Mostly VF. Each watch has 1 1/8” dia. metal case with fluted design. Watches have different colored vinyl covered leather straps and attached to each is the original $6.95 foil price tag. Dials of Pluto & Bambi feature portrait images and their ears point at the numerals, all others are full figure image and characters hands point at the numerals. Several of the crystals have shrunk a bit with age and have come loose but all are still here. All watches run but are not guaranteed to keep time. One of Donald’s hands darkened with age. The outer rim of Jiminy’s dial has discoloration to the background color that the numerals are printed on. The bands have scattered degree of aging as stored over the years. Aside from the few minor noted defects watches remain Exc/NM for display. This is the only such retailer display we’ve ever offered and an incredible opportunity to obtain the complete set all at once. This is the actual example as shown in Tomart's Disneyana Update #51 and comes w/a copy of that issue. From the Tomart Archives and comes w/COA signed by Tom Tumbusch & Ted Hake.
