Item Description
Each is a 2.75" oval with real photo paper (no dot screen) under the celluloid. Earlier, c. 1927, version has 97% silvering and c. 1935 Hauptmann kidnapping trial souvenir version has 99% silvering intact. Both versions have identical wording as: Col. Chas. A. Lindbergh's/Boyhood Home, Little Falls, Minn." Here are the differences: the early version has the text in a rectangle, all in caps. Later version has upper and lower case letters on light background panel across the lower full width. Early photo view is closer to house, later version has most distant shot. Early version has younger image photo on dark background while later has bit older Lindbergh image against a white background to make it stand out. In addition, we've seen both of these in vertical format, never before as horizontal. We did offer a variety in the last auction, a vertical, with Boyhood home on top and view below of Hopewell home showing kidnapper's access via open second story window. 1927 version is VF and later c. Jan-Feb. 1935 trial souvenir version is Exc. Both rare.
