Item Description
Top is 3-3/8x7.75". Bottom is 3-3/8x8.25". Top listed as Hake Third Party #3032. Prior to Butler's run in 1884 on the Greenback and Anti-Monopoly ticket he ran for Governor of his state on the Greenback and Democratic ticket multiple times from 1878-1883. Left is two sided paper covered with satirical comments about the worthlessness of paper currency with a small portion of the text reading "All Who Desire A Change Can Vote For B.F. Butler, Who Has Already Changed From Soft To Hard Money, And Back Again, And Whose Election Would CHANGE HIM FROM A CONGRESSMAN INTO A GOVERNOR." Includes very tiny type naming "The Heliotype Printing Co. Boston." Bottom features Uncle Sam on the right printing money w/skull inside a cornucopia and tombstone in background at top. Reverse has "$1000" in center w/text on each corner reading "Burn The Bonds," "Shoot The Bondholder," "Down With Capital," and "Vive La Commune." Both have only light handling and surface wear.
