Item Description
First is 11x17". Volume 1, No. 4. 16 pages. Dated October 1, 1968. Cover shows gruesome photo of four US GI's with decapitated Vietcong lying in front of them. Inside includes "Manifesto," demanding "The Nine" be set free, an Eldridge Cleaver article, Farm Workers article and double-page 17x23" poster format extolling "Revolution" and announcing a "March Oct. 7" to "Free The Catonsville Nine." Newspaper has heavy center fold as issued and all-over tanning. Heavier on fold line but paper is not brittle. With newspaper comes a "Free The Catonsville Nine" protest march flier, promoting the same Oct. 7 event. 8.5x11". Bottom text reads "Baltimore Defense Committee/Peace Action Center, Baltimore, Md." Reverse has extensive "Schedule Of Activities During Catonsville Nine Trial Week." Speakers include Dave Dellinger, William Sloan Coffin, Rennie Davis "And Possibly Dick Gregory." Light tanning overall, a bit darker along right edge. Both items from the Marshall Levin collection. Rare local issues.
