Item Description
Lot of three pieces issued in 1931 for the Lompoc Theater of Calif. and their name appears on all three pieces. First item is 7x9.25" four-page folder promoting the club. Title on front reads "Announcing The Inauguration Of The Mickey Mouse Club By Mayor Amos C. Whittemore" dated Sat., Dec. 12. Additional text notes the club has "It's Own Officers, Creed And Ritual, Etc./Regular Weekly Meetings Will Be Held Every Saturday At This Theater At Which, In Addition To The Club's Own Events, A Special Program, Stage Try-Outs, Stunts, Contest, Etc. Will Be Presented." Inside front is a message from theater manager. Following page includes illustration of club card although this differs from the one issued by Lompoc along w/photo of the first club button (see #1603). Text notes the club card and button were to given to each child upon presentation of membership application. Below this is the club creed. Back cover has text on obtaining membership application w/list of participating stores. All four pages have same border design w/images of Mickey and Minnie at corners plus text "For Boys And Girls" featuring a number of additional Mickey images in different poses on the letters. Lightly aged w/minor .25" tear at top spine and top right margin. VF. Second item is 7x9" four-page "Mickey Mouse Theme Song" sheet music. Has same illustrated border design on front and back as the folder. Front has imprint of "Lind's Bakery & Cafe." Text includes "We Will Gladly Help Minnie Or Mickey Mouse Plan Their Party/Try Our Special Mickey Mouse Sandwich And Our Special Minnie Mouse Sundae." Back cover has special "Lompoc Verse" of the song which specifically mentions the theater. Slightest aging, ft. 3" crease at lower right corner. VF. Final item is the 2.25x3.75" club card on stiff filament paper. Front has individual issue number of "318" and has inked name of recipient and "Chief Mickey Mouse," most likely the theater owner. Reverse has club creed. Reverse has .5" wide band of tape residue staining on top and bottom margins not affecting front appearance at all. Front remains clean and card has no creases. VF. Rare group, first we've seen.
