Item Description
1.25". No maker. Portrait photo at center. rim text has team and player names. From a set of at least six different that also includes: Jerry Fleishman (see next lot), Frank (Chink) Crossin (only played for the team 1947-48), Howard Dallmar, Joe Fulks, Angelo Musi. On this button, team name is misspelled as "Warriers." Few tiny and faint pink spots at left center seen upon close inspection. All remains bright and glossy. VF. All buttons in this set are scarce. Founded in 1946 in Philadelphia, the Warriors moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1962 and took the city's name, before changing its geographic moniker to Golden State in 1971. The Warriors won the inaugural Basketball Association of America (BAA) championship in 1947.
George Lawrence Senesky was a professional basketball player and coach. A 6'2" guard from Saint Joseph's University, he was the 1942-43 College Basketball Season's Consensus Player of the Year and played for eight seasons in the Basketball Association of America and the National Basketball Association, all with the Philadelphia Warriors. He later coached the franchise, from 1955 through to 1958, winning the NBA title in 1956.
