Item Description
1.75x2.75" matte finish to allow name in pencil but unused. From 1930s with Bastian on curl. Started in Memphis, Tenn. by Clarence Saunders, the "self-serving store" concept was patented in 1917. Franchises reached 2,660 but Saunders lost financial control in 1923 and Merrill Lynch carved up the original company to regional competitors such as Safeway and Kroger. Rare. Exc. and displays Mint.
