Item Description
1.25" with Pulver paper reads "For National President John E. Gunkel." As railroad employee, he saw the plight of often homeless newsboys of Toledo and in 1890s led founding of Toledo Newsboys Association for their betterment. The group went national at 1904 St. Louis Exposition. His 1905 book, Boyville, promoted the association and led to his national reputation. The groups, in the 1940s, transitioned into Boys Clubs, with girls added later. Only one seen. Exc. and displays Mint.
