The 160th Indiana volunteer infantry was in Newport News, VA from July 30th to August 31st, 1898. It was intended to be part of the Puerta Rico campaign but never shipped out because the peace protocol had been signed. Following Newport News the unit departed for Lexington, KY where the event described on this button apparently occurred. Reverse has W&H backpaper.
