Item Description
Lot of two. This offer sheet and premium was issued in conjunction with the 1935 Warner Bros. movie "Devil Dogs Of The Air" starring James Cagney. This was apparently a short-lived promotion since the movie was released in 1935 and the expiration date on the premium offer was May 15, 1935. First is 13.5x14.5" overall. Two-sided frame. 8x9" matted image area. Text at top reads "Quaker Oats Co. And Jimmie Cagney Want To Give You Airplane Models, Helmets, Emblems, Rings, Goggles, Books, Free!" All mentioned items are illustrated with required number of Mother's Oats trademarks and mailing costs below each item. To obtain goggles, send four trademarks or one trademark and 10¢. Age toning at left of center fold. Back is printed with order blank and checklist of available premiums. Also, 3-panel cartoon below with Jimmy Cagney promoting the benefits of Quaker Oats to his pal. Back has vertical archival tape reinforcement at center. Two 1.5" long cloth tape strips appear at back top (barely noticeable). Beautifully framed, ready for hanging. Lot also includes 2.75x7x1" mailer. Complete with 1-1/2¢ postage stamp and all flaps. Light handling wear. Box VG. Box contains 2.5x6.5" hinged plastic goggles with elastic band and fake fur trim along edges. Goggles are Rare and in choice condition. Plastic has no dents. N. Mint.
