Item Description
8.5x8.5x2" tall wood box c. early 1900s. Box shows illustration of famous French clown Footitt and black French dancer Chocolat with text including "Ou Les Chapeaux Cascadeurs" (hat stunt men). Paper label has darkened and creased with age as is often the case with paper applied to wood, wood shrinking at a different rate than paper. Manufacture hallmarks appear at top and bottom right corners. Two 1" and 2" splits and warp appear on lid. Overall box VG. Inside lid has illustrated instructions in French. Box bottom acts as gameboard with removable grid. Points are scored on bottom of box. 6" long wood hand is attached to 2" long dowel allowing the player to use this "lever" device to shoot weighted cone-shaped paper hats into scoring positions. A variation of the tiddly-winks concept. Contents VF.
