3.75x5.5x3" deep box contains 5.5" tall "Chimpanzee" manufactured in the early 1950s by Minco of Japan. Box remains tight and clean with some light aging. VF. Celluloid hands and face with tin feet and body covered by real rabbit fur gives this "Chimpanzee" a more Japanese Macaque appearance. Figure has built-in key and works. Fur remains intact and aside from some light wear around mouth, toy is VF. In Auction #185, we offered a Japanese wind-up very similar in design to this wind-up with a box lid featuring the same art with a different color bkg. That toy was marketed as "King Kong." Our last version sold for $750. Scarce.
