Item Description
Large 23x28x4.5" deep box contains elaborate set. 1951. The box is brown cardboard with printing in blue and shows obvious all-over wear and aging. Good. The die-cut cardboard stage includes die-cut curtain design, title at top w/image of Alice. Top of stage has some creasing, entire stage has moderate dust soiling. This could be cleaned up a bit and still displays Fine. Comes with a two-sided backdrop sheet for scenes "Outside The March Hare's House/The Unbirthday Party." This was meant to be colored by purchaser and as such has been neatly crayoned. Noticeable aging and margin wear including insect damage. Overall just Good/VG but if put in place for display still looks nice as margin defects can be hidden. There are marionettes of Alice, Mad Hatter and March Hare. Each is about 14" tall with painted composition heads, hands and feet. Fabric outfits. Cardboard controllers attached by string. Alice and Mad Hatter show aging with some fading of clothing, dust soiling, Mad Hatter has .25" hole in jacket and noticeable wear/insect damage to his hat tag. However, composition parts show only typical light wear, nothing serious. Outfits Good/VG while compo parts are VF. March Hare shows just light wear/aging and remains VF overall. Remaining items include a red fabric "curtain" attached to rod (Exc.), heavily worn two-sided script (Fair), Golden Record to be played during puppet performance (sleeve worn and Good/record VF), catalogue folder featuring this set on the front (worn with extensive crayoning, Good). Set is missing only a roll of theater tickets. While set does show wear overall, it is rare and the first we've ever offered.
