Item Description
3.25x4.25" bw semi-gloss photo showing two boys wearing cowboy hats and holding guns posing in front of a large store display of Lone Ranger on a rearing Silver. Beside the boys is a sign reading "Greetings From The Lone Ranger And Gimbel's." One lt. crease by horse hoof visible only in reflected light. Back of photo has notation "Christmas Show Dec. 18 1938 Robert And Richard." Apparently notation was added later and is off by one year, as display opened May 1, 1939. Comes w/photocopies of Gimbel's ad from newspaper reading "Come One/Come All/It's Free/The Lone Ranger Presents The Cavalcade Of The West/Thrilling Life-Size Tableaux-At Gimbels!" followed by a list of large store displays including Lone Ranger and Silver/Buffalo Bill/Davy Crockett/General Custer/Annie Oakley/Sitting Bull/Daniel Boone, all on the sixth floor of Gimbel's. Also photocopy of promo reading "Special Offer To Lone Ranger Club Members: Boys! Girls! Have A Special Picture Of Yourself Taken With The Lone Ranger And Silver At The Lone Ranger Exhibit In Gimbel's 33rd Street And Broadway, New York City/Only 15¢ Regular Price 25¢. This Offer Good Beginning May 1st/When You Go To Gimbel's Take This Notice For Proof You're Entitled To The Special Lone Ranger Price." Dated 1939. Only the third photo of its kind we've seen.
