10x23x3" deep box contains exceptional 5-piece set No. 53. 1950s. All pieces are cast metal with painted bodies including a large 10x11.5x2.5" tall bomber and 4 matching 4.75" long fighter jets. Box is very nicely illustrated with bottom panel designed as flight deck. Original insert includes cut-outs of top of an aircraft carrier with guns and turrets plus 8 crew members. This was designed to be attached to the box bottom to form a complete aircraft carrier with deck for the planes. Scattered light dust soiling but is still bright and uncut. VF. Box lid has scattered color rubs. Original price sticker in one corner. Two tears on both sides of front, one 1", one 2.5". The perforated top which was meant to be opened for a store display is 95% unpunched. Sides of box have splits going from a complete split on one side to .5" to 1" splits in back. Still has nice color. Overall VG. The bomber is designed with folding wings and retractable landing gear and clear plastic cockpit. Underside is marked with "495." The four fighter jets are each marked "430" and are designed also with folding wings and retractable landing gear. The finish of the cast metal wings of the 4 fighter jets have dulled very slightly, o/w planes have only a few minor scattered paint nicks and overall an exceptional set in N. Mint condition.
