Item Description
8.5" square by 2" deep box holds 4 tin litho toys by Animate. 1920s. Box is illustrated on top and 3 sides with images of farm boys making hay, riding tractor, mower and rake etc. Side panel has illustration of 7 other toys made by this early company including their famous "Baby Tank." Although box bottom has original dividers, it has heavy wear on one side where it had been cut out at one point and now re-glued with .5" by 1" hole where box is not present. Does not show when lid is put on top of bottom. Lid has darkening with age, penciling including some on baby tractor illustrations on lid. VG overall. Sets consist of "Baby Tractor", mower with operating lever to bring it up and down, hay rake with operating lever and hay wagon with a movable bed. As is common with this toy company's toys, the reverse wind-up mechanism no longer works on the tractor. Most children did not heed the "Do Not Push Forward" warnings that are printed on these toys. Toys show light wear mostly centered on front wheels of tractor and bed of wagon. Rake and mower are virtually blemish free. Few scratches on the rake's shaft. Overall toys are Fine/VF.
