Item Description
As with many Marx playsets, there were several different varieties of this set issued, this set is 1950s and as indicated on one side panel is "No. 4349." 11x28.5x3" deep box contains complete and unused old store stock set. Box has printing in blue and as is typical, the color intensity varies. Box has just light edge wear but remains tight and VF. Set features an exceptionally colorful 3-piece tin litho stage which has never been assembled. This includes "curtain" section with comedy and tragedy masks represented by Mickey and Donald plus bkg. panel featuring story art illustrations of all the characters included in this set. The soft plastic figures include characters from Snow White, Pinocchio, Alice, Dumbo plus Mickey and Donald and their families. Hard plastic accessory "stage props" include two-story house front, fireman's safety net, banquet table, etc. All figures/accessories come in original bags which have typical scattered creases and tears. Also included is the original stage assembly sheet which has tanned, .5" margin tear and .5" missing edge piece plus script booklet which has tanned with scattered creases. This is version without Peter Pan character figures and also without mention of him in the script booklet. The bkg. panel has few small paint rubs along extreme edges, o/w set remains N. Mint. From the Tomart Archives and comes with COA signed by Tom Tumbusch & Ted Hake.
