Item Description
First we've seen of this 32-page, 6x8.25" booklet published by Kratz of Buffalo, N.Y. shortly after Bryan's historic speech at the Democratic Convention in Chicago July, 1896. Cover is loose and has archival tape on back interior to repair spine split. Cover also has ink smudge and tiny chips off spine. It also has incredible photographic image of a laboring man crucified on a gold cross with tiny gold spikes through his hands and feet. Below cross are Bryan's famous words "You Shall Not Press Down Upon The Brow Of Labor This Crown Of Thorns; You Shall Not Crucify Mankind Upon A Cross Of Gold." Booklet includes portraits of nominees of Bryan and Sewell, full text of Bryan's speech and the 1896 Democratic platform and author's comments on the convention. Cover is Good, contents N. Mint. Rare.
