Item Description
4.25x9.5" postally used envelope dated Sep. 25, 1941 (less than 3 months before the attack on Pearl Harbor). Return address reads: Roy Rogers Ranger Posts, Inc./Roy Rogers, Pres. Envelope VG. 7x8.5", 12-page merchandise catalogue features illustrations of Roy and Trigger, product illustrations, one-page comic strip titled "Trigger Tricks" (politically incorrect by today's standards) and back page comic illustrations of 'Ranger Post' staff all done by "15 Yr. Old Sammy McKim/The All American Boy-Cartoonist." Contents also include a patriotic themed 2 page message to boys and girls from Roy. First page gives addresses of both of the Roy Rogers stores (Studio City/Los Angeles, Calif). Company personnel is listed with brief bios of their retail/business experiences. Last bio simply reads "Roy Rogers, Our President And Trigger, Need No Comment. All The World And His Wife Have Seen Them On The Screen." This is early Roy Rogers, before Dale Evans was in his life. The following 8 pages list 48 available products offered by the Roy Rogers store. Most of these items are western apparel/accessories and are not licensed as being Roy Rogers merchandise. The only one directly related to Roy is #44 "Autographed Pictures Of Roy" in two sizes with the third option being "Special Picture Of Roy, Personally Autographed To You, Size 11x14"...$1.00." This is very possibly the first Roy Rogers merchandise catalogue. Pages are tan in color, possibly as issued. Cover is slightly uneven to the rest of the catalogue pages. Vertical crease as folded for mailing. Margin chip at bottom edge. Overall clean. Historically significant to the early days of the Roy Rogers legend. Fine. First we've seen.
