Item Description
5x5x5.5" box. ©1950. Box with photos of Hoppy and Topper. Side panels show art illustration of 'television set' with Hoppy in center. Additional text on box reads "Automatic Television Set For A Real Television Thrill! Adventure/Action/Thrills/Automatic Toy Co. Staten Island 10, N.Y." Box top and flaps have clear tape reinforcement. Color rubs. General wear/creasing, but box remains true to original form. VG. Box contains 4.75x5x5" tall plastic television-shaped toy with metal base and key wind mechanism on bottom. Nicely designed marbleized brown/white TV set has plastic screen in front with many thin black vertical lines. Cardboard motion attached to front knob reads "Pull Knob Out To Start/Do Not Twist Knob/Push Knob In To Stop/Winding Mechanism On Bottom." TV holds paper strip on cylinder and turns when knob is pulled out. Illustrations on cylinder turn and appear to move from left to right across the screen. Story in viewer shows man robbing lady at diner/lady tells Hoppy/Hoppy chases robber/Hoppy catches him. 2.25x2.75" viewing window. Comes with 5 extra picture strips. Minimal light scuffing. Overall plastic remains glossy. TV is VF.
