Item Description
Lot of four manuals/two Sunday funnies ads. All manuals are 5x7". First is 1933. First club manual. Staple rust but o/w very bright, clean and VF. Second is 1933 "New Enlarged Edition With Straight Shooters Premium Catalogue." Light aging/wear along bottom, not offensive. VF. This second one comes with the original mailer. Torn open at right edge/surface dust. Envelope VG. Third is 1941 with illustrations of "Official Decoder Membership Badge" and "Straight Shooter Captain" medal. Scattered handling wear. Fine. Last is 1944 and includes list of radio stations carrying his program. Center crease. Light wear. Fine. Both ads are full pages from Sunday funnies. First ad is 4.5x15" and is probably the first Mix ad/offer to run in a newspaper. Dated March 5, 1933. Second is two-thirds of the page devoted to the "Tom Mix And His Ralston Straight Shooters" comic strip advertising Ralston products. Lower portion has illustration with message from Tom on left and offers the enlarged Tom Mix manual along with several premiums. Both are evenly aged. Margin wear/chips. Both ads are VG. Nice group.
