Item Description
10x24x44" shipping box. c. 1950s. Shipping label on end notes "Toys/1 Only No. 4258-D Roy Rogers Mineral City Demonst. From Louis Marx & Co. New York...Shipped From Factory No. 2, Glen Dale, Marshall County, W.Va." Box has extensive wear/moisture marks. Heavily reinforced with clear tape. Other end of box is stamped "Demonstrator." Box Good. Box contains 24x44" painted Masonite board with assembled tin lithographed western town. Signs in front designate "Post Office, Barber Shop, Fargo Express, Bank, Hotel, Music Hall/Silver Dollar." Buildings are attached to board and remain bright, glossy, clean and N. Mint. Foreground of display has various plastic accessories glued into position. Accessories include furniture for hote, street light, hitching post, barber chair, trees, fence, wagon, wagon wheels, etc. Character figures (Roy, Dale, Bullet, etc.) are not present, but original ones can be easily obtained from Playset dealers. Several of the accessories are detached from their original glued positions. 40+ pieces are present. Plastic swinging doors are in position at the "Silver Dollar." Also included are 3 horses, but uncertain if part of original set. Also included is 11x17.5" two-sided assembly instructions (torn at folds into 3 pieces). Only one we've seen/know of. Exciting addition to collectors of Roy Rogers/Playsets/Store Displays.
