Item Description
9.25x12" program with 18 pages. While film premiered in New York City on Mar. 2, 1933, this is for Mar. 24 premiere at the famous Hollywood Grauman's Chinese Theatre. Cover features embossed chain links as well as printed iconic image of the Empire State Building. "The Picture That Staggers The Imagination" text runs along spine. Inside front cover has separate 7x10" "Programme" with a listing of the evening's events as well as production and cast information. Onion skin first and last page has large "King Kong" text highlighted by gold lettering. Iconic bw photo images of King Kong bursting through gate on Skull Island and now famous image of him towering over New York City's skyline with Fay Wray in hand. Also included are bw photos of stars Fay Wray, Bruce Cabot, Frank Reicher as well as Merian C. Cooper and Ernest B. Schoedsack. Willis O'Brien, Chief Technician and man responsible for Kong's amazing effects is also pictured. Program is also illustrated with 7 bw illustrations showing King Kong from various climactic moments in the film including snatching Fay Wray from her room, the thrilling log battle, the fight between Kong and a dinosaur, the epic plane battle atop the Empire State Building. Kong defending Wray from winged reptile and his escape from chains and subsequent rampage. A simply stunning presentation from one of the most important films of the 1930s.
