Item Description
3x5" bases by 3.25" tall. All are tin litho German, 1950s-1960s. Three are mechanical and these are all marked "Made In Western Germany." Two of the mechanical actions are trays that pop out when a door is slid open. Coins are placed in these trays, a lever is pushed and then the coins are deposited. The third mechanical has interesting soccer game action. A lever is pulled, coin placed in player's leg and released, he makes a goal with the coin. All have nice designs totally different on all 4 sides. The one with the dog at his dog house has an applied paper label on the back which says "Mech. Bank Collectors Of America Annual Convention! 1970." The non-mechanical bank is from an earlier period, probably 1950s but lithography shows 1920s scene including boy about to put gas in little girl's automobile toy that she is pulling. Reverse shows teddy bear in toy car along with 2 children and on side a Bonzo-like dog is shown. A few have tiny pinpoint paint nicks mostly around corners or tops of roofs, however all are glossy and bright. Exc. A real nice group of these house-style banks.
