COMPLETE SET OF COMIC CHARACTER BISQUE NODDERS.
Item Description
This set is comprised of 66 bisque nodders from the 1920s made in Germany. Each is between 2.25" and 3.5" tall. We know this to be a complete set as documented in Collectors' Showcase Magazine Vol. 1, No. 4 from Mar./Apr. 1982. That issued featured a detailed 4-page article with photos of these nodders and a color photocopy of this article comes along. Nodders are as follows: Happy Hooligan which was the first comic character nodder produced. Gasoline Alley characters are: Bill, Doc, Rachael, Corky, Uncle Walt, Skeezix, Avery, Auntie Blossom, Mr. Wicker. Moon Mullins characters are: Mushmouth, Lord Plushbottom, Emmy, Kayo, Moon Mullins, Little Egypt, Aunt Mamie, Uncle Willie. Little Orphan Annie characters are: Annie, Daddy Warbucks and Sandy (not a nodder as produced). The Gumps characters are: Old Timer, Uncle Bim, Widow Zander, Andy Gump, Chester Gump, Min, Tilda, Ching Chow. Smitty characters are: Smitty, Scraps, Herby, Mr. Bailey. Just Kid characters are: Pat Finnegan, Fatso, Mush, Marjory, Nicodemus. Harold Teen characters are: Harold, Pop Jenks, Josie, Lillums, Lilacs, Grandpa Teen. Winnie Winkle characters are: Winnie, Perry, Ma and Pa Winkle, Mr. Bibb, Patsy. The Nebbs characters are: Rootie, Fanny and Junior Nebbs, Max, DeLong Jones, Ambrose Potts. Our Gang characters are: Wheezer, Mary Ann Jackson, Chubby Chaney, Jackie Cooper, Farina and Pete the dog (not a nodder as produced). The final four are Mutt and Jeff in two distinctly different sizes. Nodders have scattered small traces of wear and dust soiling with a few in Fine but vast majority are very nice examples VF to Exc. Call if specific condition details are desired. Some have been re-strung. This is the only time we know of that a complete set has been offered.
