Item Description
First two are 9x12" with stiff covers published 1926 and 1927 by The Daily Worker in Chicago. Titled in 1926 "Red Cartoons From The Daily Worker - The Worker's Monthly And The Liberator." 1927 similar but "From The Daily Worker And The Worker's Monthly." About 15 cartoonists included in each, among them Fred Ellis, Art Young, Hugo Gellert (see #80) and O.R. Zimmerman. 1926 issue has small chip off 3 front cover corners and 1.75" crease on the fourth. Contents are Exc. Included is 5.5x9.5" flier offering individual 9x12" prints at 25¢ and 8.5x11" letter to "Dear Comrade" that describes the collection of Proletarian art as a "premium" for acquiring subscribers to The Daily Worker. The 1927 issue has tiny tip off one front cover corner. Back cover has all 4 corners chipped plus 5" vertical tear near spine repaired by archival tape. Nine pages are missing narrow 1" sliver at bottom corner. Still overall clean and Fine. Third publication is "36 Years - The Worker - Drawings." Covers 1924-1960 in 8.5x11" size with 96 pages published by The Worker In NYC. Drawings are by American Graphic Workshop, Phil Bard, Maurice Becker, Fred Ellis, Hugo Gellert, William Gropper, Robert Minor, Art Young and a few others. Some cover browning, but o/w Exc. Great revolutionary art in all three and the 1926-1927 issues are rare.
