Item Description
Lot of 8. May 31, 1889. The dam on the Comenaugh River broke, flooding Johnstown, Pa. killing 2,209 people. Lot includes six 3.5x7" stereo views, each made by Geo. Barker, Niagara Falls, N.Y. Tops and bottoms are trimmed. Back of each has pencil/ink notations. Images depict the immense devastation of the event. Next is 2.5x4" photo of young lady with ink inscription on back "Miss Sarah J. Gageby - Drowned In Flood At Johnstown Pa. May 31, 1889." Last is 4x6.5" photo copyrighted 1889. Photo shows 19 teachers and students who died at the school. Center has 3 images of the school before and after. Random handling wear/creases. Overall Fine-VF.
