Item Description
10.5" in dia. Late 1890s. Finely executed design with rope-like border. Center has portrait with name below "George Dewey." Above is ship identified below "Flagship Olympia." In stars and bars border, 8 round wreaths mark important dates in Dewey's life from his birth through his extensive naval career, ending with "Admiral Feb. 13, 1899." Back is marked "Higgins & Seiter West 22nd St. New York/Cauldon England." Bright blue on white bkg. in high gloss glazing. A better example would be difficult to find. N. Mint.
