Item Description
41x79.75" poster for circus that ran between 1935-1938. Poster reads "Tom Mix Himself And Tony Will Positively Appear At Each Performance." Upper left-hand corner has inset portrait of Mix as main poster images are comprised of 10 clowns. Two large clown faces appear at bottom of poster, one winking and holding a bottle of castor oil, pointing to suspended toy bug above head. Chef clown holds platter of falling pancakes, 3-piece clown band plays and clown policeman holds fleeing clown by suspenders. Classic images of "Tom Foolery Supreme." Poster has been linen-mounted and has begun to slightly separate at corners, bottom left-hand margin has 1.25" tear, mostly at margin. Poster has had extensive professional restoration along folds and to blue fields of poster, not affecting graphics that much. Still displays bright and clean with bold,vivid colors. Would display Exc. Classic clowns for a classic circus poster.
