Item Description
This might be the most amazing Atom Bomb cover ever done. By placing familiar buildings such as the Chrysler Building and the Empire State in the picture, it creates a sense of instantly identifiable terror. The brightness of the blast is driven home by the use of such wild shades of orange and yellow. It completely captured the fear of most Americans as the Atomic Age dawned. The publisher, Ace Periodicals, kept the title going for four issues. Several of them featured depictions of Atom Bomb explosions, but none could equal the intensity of this first cover. Without portraying a single human casualty, it plainly put the consequences of an atomic explosion right into the reader’s mind. The pages are white. The book is CGC-certified VF+ 8.5. This is the second highest graded copy on their census.
