Item Description
Extremely rare vinyl lunchbox. 7x9x4" deep vinyl lunch box by King-Seeley Thermos Co. ©1963 P.A.T. Ward Productions. Nice box features image of Bullwinkle and "Space Peace Corp." spacesuit on the moon planting US flag and posing with one foot on Boris Badenov who's on the ground holding fallen "Boris" sign. 2 rockets appear in bkg. and in foreground are Gidney & Cloyd, the aliens from Rocky & Bullwinkle holding sign reading "Welcome Earth-lings!" Lunch box was also produced in blue variety with noticeable differences, blue version had space bkg. showing round planet, white version offered here has ringed planet and comet images. Left-hand side panel features images of Mr. Peabody attending "Peabody" rocket. Blue version had additional planet and stars bkg., white version does not. Right-hand side panel features Rocky and "Rocky USA" space capsule. Blue box version has satellite and star bkg. White version has planets and stars. Two .75" splits to vinyl at lid hinge on bottom panel. Other 2 corners of bottom panel have 1/8" - .25" vinyl splits. Lid flap has 2 tiny splits at sides and back panel has streaks of discoloration. Peabody side panel has some color rubs not affecting Peabody or rocket images. Scattered hairline scratches to front and Peabody side panel. Bottom right-hand corner of lid has 1.25" seam split. Box remains structurally sound. Fine. One of the rarest of all lunch boxes vinyl, metal or otherwise. Stands at #7 on the rarest lunchboxes list in the 2008 O'Brien toy book. Only 5 examples known. It is believed this white version was never put into production. Only example we have seen or offered in our 41 years. Extremely rare.
