Item Description
This is the larger of 2 sizes, 9" tall. While the smaller version is all wood, this has wood body with painted composition head. The box features different images of Mickey and Minnie Mouse on all sides plus both end flaps. Box text includes "Nifty/Geo. Borgfeldt & Co./Cameo Doll Co." along with the earliest Disney copyright of 1928 although doll is c. 1931. This box is extremely rare, only a few are known and this is the first we've ever offered in our 41 years. One inside end flap is loose but here. One end flap has been re-attached. One side panel with text has a pair of 1" tears, additional moderate edge wear. Box retains a bright and clean appearance with deep red color. Technically VG but 3 of the 4 main panels display Fine/VF. The figure is complete and all original but has noticeable paint wear/flakes to the ears, mostly on back of head. Compo head o/w has typical hairlines but remains quite nice with glossy appearance. Decal on chest is near 100% complete. Body shows only light wear, mostly at joints and remains bright and clean. Fabric-covered wire tail has wood tip. Aside from the paint wear on ears, a Fine example. From the Michael J. Stern Collection.
