Item Description
Lot consists of c. late 1940s rhinestone outfit with elaborate/colorful embroidery on both coat and pants. Both have "Nudie's Rodeo Tailor/Hollywood California" labels sewn into them. These labels are the style label with the "Nudie" girl wearing a vest. It was at Dale's request that the previously used bare-breasted "Nudie's" label not be used in any of Roy's clothes. She did not want Roy wearing any clothes with pictures of nude ladies on the inside. This well-tailored/high quality jacket (size 38-40) has brightly colored embroidery of red, green, gold and purple on front/back/sleeves all surrounded by many glittery rhinestones. The jacket has buttons on the cuffs and front. Fully lined. The blue pants (approximately 32-34" waist by 32" inseam) continue with matching embroidery/rhinestones down the front. Bright red piping accents the pockets/belt loops. Each belt loop is highlighted with a circle of rhinestones. Elastic stirrups are attached at the cuffs. Coat and pants remain bright, clean, usable. Outfit also includes a specially-made 7-1/4 size cowboy hat made especially for and signed by "Roy Rogers" on the inside. Inside hat band reads "Resistol/Self Conforming/5X Beaver/Made In Texas, U.S.A." Roy's signature appears in black felt tip. Hat band is leather with a semi-precious silver luster metal overlay. Metal is tooled and remains bright. Top of hat has double-piped impression which was only made for Roy Rogers. A DVD accompanies this lot that explains the shaping of this hat. Light surface dust/aging but high quality. Remains Exc. Also included are elaborate red/white/blue leather boots with manufacturer tag "Jose Sanchez/Crafted Boots/El Paso, Texas" inside each. Each boot has a stylized eagle with shield-shaped chest on front and back. A row of stars appears along tops. Elaborate tooling continues along bottom where connected to thick soles. White boot straps are accented with red. Light wear on toes. Soles show little wear. A well-made/obviously expensive pair of boots. Exc. Lot also includes certificate explaining the provenance of this outfit. Certificate explains "From The Estate Of Mike Bright." Mike was a personal friend of Roy Rogers and Dale Evans. Many of these items were given to him by Roy And Dale. Certificate lists the above mentioned suit/hat/boots and is signed by Howard R. Cherry. Lot also includes 9x13" framed color photo of Mike Bright wearing this suit. An exciting, well-made, unique outfit actually owned and worn by the King of the Cowboys. Comes with Hake's COA. Outfit ( Coat, Pants, Hat and Boots ) modeled by John Clark. John is a lifetime fan of Roy Rogers and is a regular participant in the sport of Cowboy Action Shooting. He works for Gemstone Publishing, a sister company of Geppi Entertainment and Auction Company, as Editor-in-Chief of the North American Disney standard comic books.
