Item Description
"The Buffalo Courier-Express founded their Jolly Junior Club" in 1922 and merged it with their "Sunshine Club" in 1926. Four times we've seen it promoted by multi-character postcard showing Harold Teen at center on a road. Dates range from 1931-1935. This postmarked card (1938) has revised art. Lot includes 1.25" club button, Exc.; 8x10" (folds as sent) "Certificate of Membership" ink-dated 1937, Exc.; 2x3.5" paper slip offering to correct any error in recipient's name or address. This has small tear at center. Postcard sent to Topeka, KS has name matching the certificate. Small paper loss on 4 corners of address side from scrapbook mounting. Image side has just tiny postal cancelation traces and displays N. Mint. A great card showing Aunt Betsy and Uncle Bill at center. Some surrounding characters are: Kayo & Moon resting on top edge of center panel, plus, counter-clockwise, Mickey & Minnie holding hands, Harold Teen, Perry Winkle, Smitty, Skippy, Maggie, Jiggs, Andy Gump, Popeye, Wimpy, Dick Tracy, Katzenjammer Kids, Annie, Sandy, Toonerville Trolley and Aunt Eppie Hogg hoisting a log. Gorgeous and first seen.
