Item Description
5.5" long painted cast iron with rubber tires. This is the 1934 version of extremely popular Arcade and Greyhound collaboration for the '33 World's Fair which eventually resulted in these toys being sold in five sizes, four of which we offer in this catalogue. This was the smallest one and retailed in 1934 for 15¢. Arcade had been struggling during the beginning years of the Depression and just as the Mickey Mouse hand car helped Lionel in their darkest hour, these helped by selling tens of thousands over the two-year period. This smallest size is the only one that was cast as a solid piece and does not turn. Has single Greyhound dog on each side. Moderate paint loss. Wheels have stress lines and cracks although complete. VG.
