Item Description
18x24" paper print with his facsimile signature "C.A. Arthur." Text below plate reads "Copyright, In The Year 1880 By Oscar Marshall, 245 Broadway New York. All Rights Reserved. Engraved By Wm. Edgar Marshall." Paper is tanned with small bit of spotting on margins, mostly at corners where paper was once mounted. Small archival tape on each reverse corner to cover tape residue areas. Never folded. Fine overall. Charles Guiteau, a disgruntled federal office seeker, shot president Garfield July 2, 1881. The day Garfield died, September 19, 1881, Arthur became our 21st president. Rare.
