Item Description
1.25" watch by Ingersoll. c. 1934. Finely detailed dial with image of sign post in center and hands designed as directional signs. Glossy hands (appear to be enameled) read "A Scout Is/Be Prepared." Around the outermost edge of the dial beyond the numbers reads "Trustworthy/Loyal/Helpful/Friendly/Courteous/Kind/Obedient/Cheerful/Thrifty/Brave/Clean/Reverent." The second hand appears in the lower center. The second hand itself is in the shape of the fleur-de-lis which appears in the center of the "Boy Scouts of America" emblem. Dial is clean. Watch has original metal link band. Band and case show very little wear with near full silver luster. Watch and band are Exc. Watch works. Attached to band is the original two-sided price tag which reads "Ingersoll Official Boy Scout Watch $3.50." Light wear/crease/ink notation to tag. Fine. Comes with 2.5x4.75x1" tall hinged box. Box has Boy Scout emblem on top and inside lid. Likely had insert (missing). Light surface dust. Pencil notation on top. Box Fine. Needless to say, this watch was designed as a dress watch, not as a watch to be used out in the woods due to its design and original cost. Rare as boxed.
