Auction #183 - Part I
Item numbers 1 through 1290 in auction 183
Item Description
This 13/16" cello by Bastian is rare but still the most affordable of the Davis and Bryan jugates. There are two tiny flaws. The stamping of the Bastian union bug on the reverse caused a very slightly raised 3/16" crescent hairline on the celluloid surface between their two heads. This tiny line catches reflected light but only in certain angles and the celluloid surface remains totally clean. Second tiny defect is a near pinpoint bump on the top left edge at 11 o'clock. This was caused when the collet was inserted and on the back there is a tiny barely visible 1/32" cello split at the same spot. Reverse metal back has lost some silver flashing but there is no rust. In the Hake 2004 Revised Prices at $3,500.00.
