Item Description
1.25" two-sided celluloid with "W&H Co." text on curl which includes "Pat. Applied For." Front of charm shows arm with hand holding massive diamond. Text reads "This Charm Will Not Work Unless You Send For A Catalogue Of Arons' Vol-Ta-Ic Diamonds 315 & 317 Fifth Ave. Pittsburgh, PA." Text on the reverse allows the piece to be dated as 1898 and reads in full "This Charm If Carried In The Pocket Prevents Bald Heads, Hard Work, Love, Warts On The Nose, Bicycle Face, Dark Brown Taste, War Craze, Swelled Head, Delirium Tremens, Unhappy Marriages, Insanity, And Punctured Tires." In even smaller text is the message "Avoid Substitutes, As This Charm Will Either Kill Or Cure." Pinpoint indent on front rim edge at left barely showing. Still displays Mint. Only example we've seen with this advertiser. Rare.
