Item Description
Beautifully designed 1.75" celluloid has metal reverse with pair of pointed metal prongs holding a single 2.5" circle of black felt. There should be 2 or 3 additional felt layers and these were used to clean off ink from a pen point. What remains here is totally clean. Celluloid has text in both English and German and shows numerous award medals among its ornate design elements. Curl reads, and the first we recall seeing this wording, "Pen Wiper Made By The Whitehead & Hoag Co. Newark, N.J. Pat. Applied For." c. 1900 and rare.
