Item Description
18" tall composition and cloth doll unmarked but by Effanbee, 1938. Composition head has ventriloquist mouth with tiny painted teeth on lower inside plus painted blue eyes, eyebrows and molded hair. Gloved hands and shoes are also composition. Flannel spats held by elastic strap beneath shoes, cuffed fabric trousers in houndstooth pattern, flannel jacket trimmed at collar and cuffs in velveteen. Fabric necktie is pinned by small blue pearl-like orb. Body is stuffed cloth. Comes with original felt top hat with satin-like ribbon and bow. Cord at back of head to open mouth. Head has scattered crazing hairlines as is usual and typical with dolls of this type. Composition is complete and not chipped with only light traces of wear to raised areas of hair. Spats have several tiny age spots and a few areas of insect damage. Felt top hat has some wear and it has lost its shape somewhat. Still displays VF. Rarest of the Effanbee character dolls.
