Item Description
8.25x11.25" envelope. c. 1955. Envelope with return address "U-Bild Enterprises/Van Nuys, California." Postally used. Light handling wear. VG. Envelope holds folded as issued "Cowboy Mailbox Pattern No. 142." Unfolds to 34x42". 3.5x4.5" photo of Roy appears on pant leg of pattern. Roy is seen reading mail with mailbox in front of him as he stands beside a completed mailbox holding cowboy figure. A different version of this is known with the same picture of Roy appearing on the envelope with his endorsement. This is likely the first version with a generic envelope. Pattern remains bright, clean. N. Mint. A newspaper clipping accompanies this lot with pencil date March 27, '55. Article has same photo of Roy with mailbox and explains the product. Rare. An unusual item.
