Item Description
This ground-breaking childrens radio (The Voice That Flies) program aired on CBS. Chief Wolf Paw told dramatized stories of the American Indian way of life and listeners obtained premiums by sending in "Wampum" (Wrigley's gum wrappers). This is an original collection assembled by a girl in Philadelphia in 1932. All 5 items have the mailing envelope and 3 items come with 8.5x11" Wrigley stationery letter addressed as "A Message For Your Mother Or Father" with text extolling virtues of the program and chewing gum. Minor wear/tears to envelopes from mailing and being opened. All are clean and the letters are N. Mint. The 5 premiums are: A) "Tribe Book Of The Lone Wolf." 4.5x6" with flocked cover. 28 pages. Text includes Indian lore, photo of Sitting Bull, instructions of Chief Wolf Paw and catalogue of 13 premiums, all pictured. Owner's name on title page as instructed. N. Mint. B) Member's arrowhead-shaped pin with Chief Wolf Paw symbol at center. Pin is Mint. Original card with secret words is Exc. C) Club member's sterling silver ring, the first radio-sponsored child's premium ring. Bottom of band has hairline 1/16" split where the band was sized. Top has arrowhead and Wolf Paw symbols with bright silver luster. D) Tribe necklace with club emblem. Still with the original ink chain and even the original glassine envelope. Tiny envelope tear. Necklace is essentially Mint. A scarce club premium. E) Tribe bracelet is silvered brass. Has club emblem and 8 symbols. Comes with 2.5x3" folded paper, the first example we've seen, reading: The Message On This Bracelet Reads: 'Greetings! This Bracelet Can Bring Good Medicine (Luck) To The Princess In The Lone Wolf Tribe Who Wears It'." A rare premium. Bracelet is essentially Mint. A great group rarely found so complete and in outstanding condition.
