Item Description
14x22" thin cardboard posters. Both posters promote appearances at the Valencia Ballroom in Hake's hometown of York, PA, a venue for nationally-known orchestras beginning in 1929 into the 1940s. Jimmy Dorsey sign promotes Feb. 19, 1938 concert and features a nice portrait image of him. 2x3" moisture stain in bottom left-hand corner margin. Lower left-hand margin has moderate wear, rest of poster is aged to cream in color with handling wear along top margin and horizontal crease running through center. Holes at each corner and center for posting. VG/Fine and displays very nicely. "Tommy Dorsey His Trombone And His Orchestra" poster features nice tinted photo portrait of "The Sentimental Gentlemen Of Swing." For Apr. 9, 1938 concert. Horizontal creasing at center with cardboard reinforcements attached at back and at corners. Front corners have small areas of paper loss which have now been professionally restored. Bottom half of poster has been professionally cleaned which shows in reflected light but does enhance display. VG. See Valencia Ballroom 10th anniversary book #2483.
