Item Description
19.5" dia. by 5.5" tall tin litho drum with stiff paper "skin." Drum head has caricature image of comical big band leader Jones, the "I" in his name being a large spike. Two other nail "spikes" appear on drum with musical notes and exploding clouds. By Colmor, c. 1940s. The "Junior" is a reference to Jones' band the "City Slickers." Jones wears a loud zoot suit-like ensemble conducting with baton in boxing glove-clad hands. .25", .5" and .75" punctures with 4 tiny 1/8" punctures by Jones' hands. These do not affect integrity of drum head, which remains tight. Scattered staining around edge from metal interior rim. Tin litho cymbal attached to back of linen drum head. Fine overall. Displays Fine/VF. Rare and first we've offered.
