Item Description
1.25" c. 1896 showing one of their company advertising emblems that includes "Makers Of Badges, Buttons And Advertising Novelties. The Largest Manufacturers In The World Of This Class Of Goods." Reverse has open back but it once also had a hinged tin cover which is now missing. In the back is a paper reading "This Is A Sample Of Our New Box. The Uses To Which It Can Be Put Are Innumerable. How Many Can You Think Of?" along with a December 1, 1896 patent date. Since the tin cover is gone, a standard spring pin is slipped below the collet thus transforming it into a standard pinback. From the Hake collection and the only example we've seen. See following rare badge for button maker "Baltimore Badge." Exc.
