Item Description
3x7x7.75" tall tin litho toy with built-in key. One of the earliest Disney wind-ups c. 1929-1930. Has Castle logo with letters "RS" for Rogelio Sanchis of Isla Toys, Spain. Great depiction of Minnie smiling and showing teeth while wearing a polka dot dress and apron. Felix sits at the front of the pram in dapper attire of polka dot shirt and striped pants. Complete and all original except for the gear that attaches to the parasol shaft which has been professionally replaced. That in no way affects appearance for display and toy works perfectly as it should. Travels forward as the parasol rotates. Again, o/w complete and all original including Minnie's separate ears, her fabric-covered wire tail and the parasol that Felix holds in his hands. Moderate scattered wear including pinpoint paint nicks/scratches and some pinpoint spots of aging. Toy still retains a glossy appearance, all color is strong. Extremely rare, one of only two known with the other example currently on display at the GEM museum in Baltimore. This very example previously sold at auction in 2000 for $35,200. Based on this, the consignor has set a very conservative opening.
